Thaipusam is the very auspicious day on which Devi Paramashivashakti materialized and gave the Shakti Vel to Sri Subrahmanya for vanquishing the three demons, Surapadman, Tarakasuran and Simhavaktran. The Thaipusam happens on the during the month of tamil month of Thai during the Pushya nakshatra.
